Watcharapong Wongkaew is a master’s student in Civil Engineering — Geospatial Engineering at The University of Tokyo, working in Sekimoto Lab (IIS, CSIS) on the Generative Urban Foundation Model: a decoder-only transformer that generates realistic human-mobility trajectories across cities from real data. His work sits at the intersection of geography, transport modelling, and machine learning.

He graduated with first-class honours in Civil Engineering from Chulalongkorn University and spent three years as a research associate at the Chulalongkorn University Transportation Institute. He also worked with the ARIISE Research Unit on railway-track management, infrastructure resilience, and climate-change adaptation, and spent a year designing data-driven public-transport policy at the Academic Division of the Pheu Thai Party, including analysis of the 2022 Household Travel Survey.

He continues as a lecturer and faculty advisor at Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, where he developed the National Geography Olympiad curriculum and trains students in geography fieldwork and human geography.

The academic one-pager — papers, talks, and awards — is at wattwong103.github.io/research.
